Lela Rose Fall 2012: Architecture and Romance | Blog | OMGHaute

Chevrons, angular pieces and geometric prints all remained consistent throughout Lela Rose’s Fall 2012 collection. Rose cites inspiration from Spanish architect, Santiago Calatrava who values romance and fluidity even in his architecture work primarily dealing with steel and straight lines. This inspiration translated into a Fall collection with a lot of graphic prints, linear cuts and movement. At the same time I found to be perfectly feminine — the angles and lines were most complementary to the female figure.

The color palette of the collection was very Fall but also inspired by architecture; Gray, rust, amber, white, black, and silver. The beginning of the collection started off with gray looks that were angular with chevron printed pieces and a sleek gray pantsuit, then rolled out with ladylike sharp shouldered sheath dresses with nipped waists and graphic prints and then finally evening gowns which were more romantic and fluid than the earlier numbers in the collection.

I admire Lela Rose’s interesting dynamic between architecture and romance and the lady like ’40s feel to the collection. For the polished romantics, this collection is definitely for you! If the shoes caught your eye, you’re in luck — they’ll hit Payless this Fall!
